Make a Mini Quilt with Eilidh Weir

Duration: 5.5 hours

Spend the day creating a mini quilt for your wall or for practical use in the home. This workshop is for beginners to seasoned sewists.

We will cover the essential steps for quilt making by hand, beginning with planning the composition and what elements to include.

  • Dig into Eilidh's personal fabric stash, pile of reused textiles or bring some special fabrics of your own to work with.

  • Create your quilt top using hand stitches piecing or appliqué.

  • Learn how we can create quilts using exclusively reused fabrics

  • Learn how to stitch your layers together to create stability, texture and interest.

  • Learn how to bind and finish your quilt so it is ready to hang or use.

 
 

About Eilidh:

Eilidh Weir is a multidisciplinary artist and mending enthusiast. She has a strong DIY ethic, always collecting materials and learning techniques of making.. Everything that passes through their home is fair game for repairing, you’ll struggle to find a sock that hasn't been patched or darned.

Eilidh runs a variety of workshops and is committed to sharing practical skills that resist consumerist culture and strives to reduce waste across all aspects of life and work.  

Much of her recent textile work brings together waste and pre-used textiles, her love of composting and the creatures and plants that she encounters whilst scraping around in the dirt and growing food.

Includes:

Materials, tools and a delicious Fodder + Farm lunch and home baking. Plus you might get to cuddle a goat.

Anything purchased on site.

Important to Know:

Please wear closed shoes suitable for walks around the farm and plenty of layers.
